The Dalton Collection is housed in the archives at the Coast Guard Heritage Museum in Barnstable, Massachusetts. In circa 2005, the files were donated to the Museum through Francis Broadhurst, a founding member of that museum. John W. Dalton was a well-known writer in the early 1900s. His book “Lifesavers of Cape Cod” was first printed in 1902. “This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it” -- from Amazon, which, in August 2018 was offering the May 2016 hardcover edition of his book. Dalton was one of the founding members of the Along the Coast Publishing Company, incorporated on 11 January 1910 and located at 60 State Street, Boston. Other founders were William J. Sullivan and Lester M. Bacon.
