Description

Wire Workers have their photograph taken in front of Spencer Wire Company buildings in Upper Wire Village in Spencer, Massachusetts. In February, 1943 the company announced that it was going to discontinue all operations in Spencer and move to West Brookfield. In the later 1940s and 1950s some of the wire mills fell victim to fire. Other wire mills were destroyed by the flood of 1955.
