Felix Gatineau, (1857-1927), leader of the French Canadian community in Southbridge, seen delivering goods on a sleigh, for P. H. Carpenter & Co. 105 Main Street, Southbridge. (P. Henry Carpenter who also served as postmaster.) Madame Odile Gatineau, nee Giard and her daughter Laura Gatineau Choquette are on the porch of the house. Felix Gatineau was born in Ste-Victoire, PQ, Canada on November 12, 1857. He moved to Southbridge in 1877. During his time in Southbridge, Monsieur Gatineau, garnered the support and respect of the community. Among his achievements was to be Massachusetts State Representative in 1906, 1920-21 and 1927. He died on December 31st, 1927.
