Description
A horse-drawn carriage full to capacity, with people celebrating the centenary of Southbridge, in July 1916. The backdrop is the distinctive brick facade of the American Optical Company. Eight young women are seated on the outside of the carriage that is festooned with a garland of flowers. Two men are wearing hats, one is holding the reins of the horse. Two women and a girl peep out from the interior of the carriage. The women have their hair swept up and their necks are adorned with chokers. All wear full length clothing. Flags fly from the back of the vehicle. The whip is next to the driver in its holder.
