Description
The armory stands resplendent overlooking the granite arch bridge spanning the Quinebaug River. According to the study completed by McGinley Hart in June 2000, the stone bridge on Central Street ("Central Street Bridge") was designed by Civil Engineer Arthur C. Moore and built by Blanchard Brothers Granite Co., in 1904. The West Main Street bridge was also built by the Blanchards. The Quinebaug River has rapids classified as "class four".
