Description

One of the floats participating in the parade in Southbridge celebrating the centennial anniversary of the incorporation of Southbridge - July 2, 3 and 4, 1916. Horse-drawn float with driver and two colonial re-enactors, are on view. The man is dressed as a Puritan with the distinctive hat with buckle and the black suit with split white collar. The woman is seated at a spinning wheel. She has a head covering and an apron worn cris-crossed. The wagon is covered with yew clippings and decorations. Mr. Michael P. O'Shaughnessy is in charge of the parade, according to the centennial program. Massachusetts Governor McCall attended the celebrations on Tuesday, July 4th and was scheduled to speak at 1 p.m. A house with a mansard roof is in the background. A glimpse of a cupola is also provided.
