Description
Interior view of the jewelry store of Charles E. Monroe, later optometrist. The store was located at the Old YMCA building on the south side of Main Street in Southbridge. The YMCA building was located at the corner of Elm and Main streets, and was subsequently razed in 1971. Charles E. Monroe is photographed sitting in a relaxed manner at his engraving desk. Monroe is in a vest, shirt and tie with a loosened collar. The wall is decorated with a floral wallpaper. There is a shelf and a light attached. The desk has many items related to jewelry engraving on top. On the floor is a paisley wall-to-wall floor covering.
