From Webster Directory 1881-1882: This firm commenced business in 1876, and occupies the whole of the large building facing Park St. which comprises one of the Power Buildings. Mr. Robert Humphrey has been successfully conducting the shoe business here for many years, and has been associated with several well-known shoemen, and since connecting himself with J. Byron Burnham, a young man of integrity and business worth, who for years had been his book-keeper, their advance has been steady... The firm does an annual business of $130,000, employing one hundred and twenty-five hands.
