Description
Circa 1891 glass plate photograph of the interior of the Free Public Church Library, now known as the Buckland Public Library. The image shows a single room 25 x 36 feet, with brick wainscoting around the entire room. The upper walls are of plaster. There are double hung windows and a hardwood floor. Book cases line the wall, and at one end is a large brick fireplace. An oak reading table with chairs at the center of the room are still being used as of this writing in March 2010. Over the table is a four lamp chandelier, probably oil. A single lamp, probably oil also, is on a small table beside what appears to be a secretary, perhaps the librarians desk. The physical part of this room looks the same in 2010 as it did in 1891.
