Description

The Garver Room is home to the library's reference collection and is also the silent study area. John Anson Garver's portrait hangs on the west wall. The portrait was donated by his son Chauncey. The Garvers were both graduates of Phillips, and Yale and went on to be lawyers in New York City. During the renovations in the late 1980's the Garver Room was the only room where students could go beside the lobby. All other areas were hard hat only, including the book stacks.
