In the corner of the building above the Town Hall was Charles Page, druggist. The single story building was Bright's Bakery. Home of Dr. Richardson corner of Cross Street; Methodist Church called by the ungodly "The Eel Pot". Methodist Church is located at Main and Cross Streets. The Methodist Episcopal Church was built in 1847. The land was purchased for $1600 and the building was completed at a cost of $5900. A gilded rooster surmounts the spire and at one time graced the spire of the Meeting House that stood at the corner of Common and Mt. Auburn Streets. The fire station now stands where the church stood. Look for the horse car track. Town affairs were carried on for ten years without a Town Hall.
