Description
Driven by Irving T. Fletcher on the corner of Pleasant and Bridge Streets where he owned a store. Note the wagon to the left that says "Fletcher." Irving T. Fletcher owned I.T. Fletcher Groceries and Provisions which also sold wooden ware, glass, hay and straw, crockery, boots, shoes, rubbers etc. The store was located at 256-258 Pleasant Street. He clerked in his father, Samuel W, Fletcher, and Pliney F. Towne's store in the same location, which was started some time in the 1880's . Fletcher owned the store around 1897. Pliney F. Towne died Jan. 1895. Samuel W. Fletcher is no longer listed in the Town Directory in 1890. He lived in Newton, so that means he did not work/own Fletcher and Towne even though the store is advertised in the 1890 Town Directory.
