Description
McLauthlin's Bookstore, job printer, stationery, circulating library and fancy goods. Started by Charles C. and later by his widow Mary until 1911 when she died. Her sons then took over the business. Joseph F. Torre's fruit stand. Torre started as a laborer, but 1895, he started a fruit and confectionery stand at 27 Main Street. In 1897 he had two stands, one at 27 Main and the other at 363 Mt. Auburn Street. His wife Matilda died in 1903. His children, Clothide L. (never married), Stephen and Frank J. and Angela M.(Pellegrini) worked at his stand though out the years. Frank moved to Reading in 1915. Joseph retired in 1914. However he marries in 1921 to Mary. Joseph dies in 1927. Mary died in 1940 at the age of 92. Note the policeman and people in the upstairs window.
