Description

Image of Hopkinton firemen from Engine 2 Company posing with Hunneman Hand Tub fire fighting apparatus, named Edward Hopkins No.2 from the town's Woodville Station. The company won first prize at the Fireman's Muster held in Worcester on October 17, 1908 by streaming water 180 feet into the air. The hand-drawn pumper was the second Hopkinton vehicle to win at The Fireman's Muster. The first competition was won in 1858, also held in Worcester. Note that only one person in the image is wearing a uniform, several wear hats and the boy in the center is framed by two brooms. Steam fire engines replace the hand tub.
