Born 1850 in Watertown and lived there until 1879 when he became an associate of Alexander Graham Bell in the Volta Laboratories in Washington, D.C. Moved to San Diego, CA, 1905. Awarded a gold medal at the 1881 Electrical Exhibition in Paris and a gold medal for his graphophone at the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition in San Diego.
