Homes of Dr. Hosmer and George E. Priest. View from Charles River showing stone wall, trees, horse, and cow. George Eaton Priest was appointed regimental quartermaster. He was later commended for his work in this position. He also a Watertown Free Public Library Trustee from 1889-1897. Dr. Hiram Hosmer was born in1798 in Walpole, NH. He helped his father on the farm and learned the trade of cabinet maker. He received his degree from Harvard in 1824. He married Sarah Watson Grant of Walpole, NH in 1827. Of his four children only the youngest, Harriet Hosmer survived, famous sculpturess.
