Description
MR. GEORGE A. DRAPER, our Treasurer and loved
fellow member, died February 7th, 1923.
Having been made a member of the firm of George
Draper & Sons in the year of 1877 he became familiar with
the various departments of the business and was elected a
Director in all of the older companies. In 1896 upon the
incorporation of the Draper Company he was elected a
Director and Treasurer. In 1916, when the present Draper
Corporation succeeded the Draper Company, he was again
elected a Director and Treasurer, with full responsibility
for the financial affairs of the Company.
Mr. Draper was a man of inflexible integrity and great
strength of character, and to his broad vision and ability is
due much of the advancement and success of the various
enterprises in which ยท he was interested, not only in this
community, but extending far beyond its confines.
Mr. Draper's interest in worthy enterprises was shown
in a practical form by his generous gifts to charities, and
notably by his recent creation of the Hopedale Community
House and endowment thereof for the benefit of his native
town of Hopedale.
By his death his associates, friends and business
connections have suffered an irreparable loss and
experienced a lasting sorrow.
At a meeting of the Directors of Draper Corporation,
held February 19th, 1923, the Committee appointed at the
last meeting submitted the above testimonial, which was
unanimously adopted, and it was voted that the
testimonial be inscribed on the records of the Corporation
and copies be sent to the members of Mr. Draper's family
and to the local Press.
