Dance Modern dance
In "Imaginary Crossing," by dancer Dawn Kramer and videographer Robin Doty, two distinctly different environments overlap. At the beginning of the work Kramer dances alone in a studio. The camera follows her closely as she makes contact with the walls that surround her. Out-of-doors on a bridge, Kramer faces a group of dancers. They back up slowly and she weaves in and out of participation with them. The work occurs mostly in silence, although occasionally the sounds of the environment are amplified, so that we hear the dancers' labored breathing or whispered remarks. The work is 11 minutes in length. "Imaginary Crossing" was featured in the "Frames of Reference" special "Dance Journeys."
