Description

Exterior view of the Tappan-Philbrick House on Walnut Street. John Tappan, along with his brother Lewis, later became a famous New York merchant and abolitionist, and constructed this house on Walnut Street in 1821-22. In 1829, Samuel Philbrick, another leading abolitionist, acquired the house.
