<mods:abstract>Ledger for Sylvester Cram, toolmaker and machinist, at No. 17, Harvard Place, Boston, Mass. This ledger was kept from February 7 through November 14, 1850. It details the people or companies for whom Cram created or worked on tools and machines. Items from Cram's workshop include presses, dies, punches, lathes, handles, belts, steam engines, bolts, cranks, pulleys, irons, hammers, chisels and more. Each page consists of a header with the page number, "Boston," and the beginning date on the page. Underneath this header, Cram recorded the date of the work, the customer the work was done for and what work was completed, and the total cost of the labor. The book measures 6.75 x 8 x .5 inches.</mods:abstract>
