This collection contains selected manuscripts from the R. Stanton Avery Special Collections related to the American Revolutionary War (1775-1783). These collections include account books, commissions, diaries, letters, orderly books, rolls, receipts, and other materials produced by soldiers and sailors that provide details about their military experiences as they served during this war. The collection includes similar documents produced by civilians that provide insight into economic and other effects of the war. The documents primarily relate to events that occurred in New England, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
