Massachusetts Mayors’ Club
Mayor Scanlon and the Lawrence’s Board of Aldermen hosted the Massachusetts Mayors’ Club. 60 mayors and ex-mayors of Massachusetts cities and their wives and guests arrived on the morning of September 24, 1913 at the train station in South Lawrence. They were driven to various points of interest in automobiles. Later in the day, dinner was served at the Merrimack Country Club. The final event of the day before departure was viewing from the Duck Bridge the operatives leaving the mills for their homes.
