Commonwealth v. Sacco and Vanzetti
The Sacco-Vanzetti collection contains materials from the combined trials for Nicolo Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti for the murders of Alexander Berardelli (#5545) and Frederick A. Parmenter (#5546). Indictments were returned by the Grand Jury 11 September 1920 and the trial, held in Superior Court, Norfolk County, at Dedham before Judge Webster Thayer and a jury, began 31 May 1921. The trial concluded 13 July 1921 with each of the defendants being found guilty.
The materials in the collection include the original file papers from both cases, exhibits and identifications, and papers from the Office of the District Attorney, Norfolk County. Most items date from 1920-1927.
