This envelope contains two letters, the second of which has the first four pages missing. In the first letter, Louisa frets about the muddy condition of the roads and informs Sadie that she may not be able to travel home until they are safe and dry. Louisa talks some about family friends, but explains all the gossip can wait until Sadie arrives home. In the second letter, Louisa lists the visitors she has had at the house and discusses the amount of peach butter she made. She closes her letter by instructing her daughter to write her in a few days and "tell me something that will make me happy."
