Formal portrait of Sumner Cushing Brooks (Class of 1910). He went on to become a respected Professor of Zoology at the University of Berkeley and also taught marine botany at the Marine Biological Lab at Woods Hole, Massachusetts. Mr. Brooks' father, Dr. William P. Brooks, helped establish and was president of the Hokkaido Imperial University in Japan, where his son was born. Sumner's wife was Matilda (Moldenhauer) Brooks, a known pioneer of women in science. He died in Bermuda on April 23, 1948.
