Hamilton, July 12, 1934 written in lower left corner of painting on right. "1935, painting by S. L. Hamilton" written on back. Duplicate photograph has penciled note on back: "The mature bark, young bark, leaves, fruit and one and two year seedlings of the red (left) and sugar maples compared. This is one of a series of "Dendrological plates."" "Please return photo to Massachusetts State College, College News Service, Amherst, Massachusetts" stamped on back of duplicate.
