In a close vote last night (WED), the board of the Orange County Sanitation District voted to treat its sewage to meet federal Clean Water Act standards. In past years, the district got a waiver allowing it to deposit moderately treated waste water deep into the ocean four-and-a- half miles off the coast. As KPCC's Ilsa Setziol reports, it's a victory for environmentalists who had rallied the public to lobby local politicians.
