Description:
A woman representing France is being pulled out of a wine pitcher. The print shows the plan proposed by Audiffret. Duc d’Edmond Armand Gaston Audiffret-Pasquier (1823 – 1905)acted as auditor of the State council from 1840 to 1848. As Orléaniste he endeavoured to reunite the two divided branches of the Bourbons. In 1875, he was elected President of the National Assembly, was appointed Senator in 1876, and acted as President of the Senate until 1879.
