The tornado that hit downtown and East Nashville 3 years ago was the inspiration for Sheldon Curry to become a Red Cross volunteer. He's worked 10 disasters, nothing has measured up to the devastation he has seen in NYC following September 11, 2001 World Trade Center attacks. It is a horrible awe. Curry works directly with families affected by the tragedy. People applaud him, people stop to thank him. People want to move on. Curry speaks on the fear that hovers around the city. He speaks on localized implosions of buildings during clean up efforts, he listens to their stories and does his best to empathize, he finds laughter and happiness in the children, site onlookers are prohibited from taking photos, new trainees, and coming home.
