Description:
Detail of the 30' x 20'ceramic tile mural in the Plaza Betances. The pieces were created by participants, many of them children, in Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción's various programs. This detail focuses on a portrait of Ramón Betances, the 19th century Puerto Rican activist and doctor. The words beneath his portrait read "Sepamos combatir por nuestro honor y nuestra libertad - Ramón Emeterio Betances 1827 - 1898." Inscribed at the bottom of the work are the words "Este mural es regaldo de la comunidad hispana [?] y futuras generaciónes."
