"HOPE AT THE EDGE" (SMITH ISLAND SPECIAL) This special episode of "Outdoors Maryland" is focused on Smith Island. Smith Island is both home to water birds and watermen; the latter making a living off of what they catch in the water, but that way of life is threatened as the population of oysters, crabs, and seagrasses decrease. As a result, more townspeople leave the island for the main land. There's also a focus on the history of Smith Island and the fishing towns which make it up. Outdoors Maryland is a magazine featuring segments on nature and the outdoors in Maryland.
