Here we see a scene from the play "Phèdre" by Racine. A woman enamored with a man, who cringes at the sight of her. Jean Racine (1639-1699) well known writer and poet of the 17th century. He was the author of „Andromaque“ (1667), „Athalie“ (1691), „Bayazet“ (1672), „Bérénice“ (1670), „Britannicus“ (1689), „Iphigénie“ (1674), „Phèdre“ (1677).
