The center features a portrait of the Confederate State of America President Jefferson Davis. Above the portrait contains the writing "Six months after the Ratification of a Treaty of Peace between the Confederate States and the United States". The writing is divided in half by the title, The middle of the bill contains the phrase, "The Confederate States of America will pay to the bearer on demand Fifty Dollars". The bill does not contain a design on the back. The second bill (no. 3408) was printed in Richmond on September 2nd, 1861. As opposed to the first bill displayed, this bill features a woman sitting in front of a treasure chest and two sailors in the lower left corner of the bill. Despite the torn condition of the bill, the top phrase also contains the text, "Six months after the Ratification of a Treaty of Peace between the Confederate States and the United States". The middle of the bill contains the text "The Confederate States of America will pay to the bearer on demand Fifty Dollars". The bill does not contain a design on the back.
