Goddard (Laconia), H.W. Freer (Bellows Falls), L.M. Collins (Dover), [column 2] C.J. Higgins (Bennington), R.E. Burleigh (Concord Railroad Dept.), W.A. Fairbanks (Concord), [column 3] John Gibson (Burlington), Claus Olandt, Jr. (State Secretary), D.M. Spence (Montpelier), [column 4] R.W. Gillett (Manchester), G. Arlington Raynor (Keene), L.B. Hardy (Brattleboro), [column 5] W.H. Fuller (Rutland), D.N. Bartlett (Rutland), F.W. Teague (Portsmouth). Claus Olandt was the state secretary of Vermont and New Hampshire until 1897 carrying on the position along with his work among german-speaking young men. Mr. Olandt is also renown to have served in fourteen prison camps in Europe during World War I. Thanks to his organization, prisoners could communicate home through letters. Olandt also brought hope to the camps through music and his gospel meetings. Olandt’s work “was undertaken in the extraordinary conditions of life producing a spirit of comradeship, and friendship (North Otago Times, 8 November 1917).
