This photograph shows an up close view of the trailer park that was located on International YMCA College's (now Springfield College) East campus. The picture shows several trailers, small log cabins, and clotheslines. According to the backside of the image, the picture was taken in 1946. The trailer parks were known as "Kampus Kolony." Kampus Kolony provided housing for about 100 people from 31 Springfield College student families. The Kolony had its own government, fire department, bottled gas distribution agency, and a community hall. Two trailer camps were built at the end of World War II for the Springfield College campus. The one shown here was located on East campus, but it was taken down around 1951. The second location was at the southern end of Springfield's Alumni Hall along the shores of Lake Massasoit, which was also taken down in 1959 to make room for more buildings at Springfield College.
