81 Cartes-de-visite, and 5 tintypes (2 very small). Most appear to be from 1850s and 1860s, but some are from the following decades. Some photos are duplicates, and some can also been found elsewhere in the collection. Some of the cartes-de-visite have come unglued from their cardboard. 1. A seated man, from the waist up. He is wearing a dark suit with a dark tie, clean shaven. He is sitting on an ornate, upholstered chair.On the back, written in pencil "Mr. Washington Lane", The accession number and the photographer's logo, J.W. Black, 173, Washington St., Boston 2. A woman with a white vignette, faded. Shoulders and face shot, hair tied back, white collar with a dark dress. Back reads, "Mrs. Washington Lane" and photographer's Logo, "Black & Case, Photographic Artists, Boston & Newport R.I." 3. A seated man holding a scarf. Back reads, "Mr Boutelle, 128 Pleasant St." and photographer's logo, "J.W. Black, 173 Washington St. Boston". 4. A young boy leaning against a pillar. Back reads, "Joseph Burrage" and photographer's logo, " Warren, Post Office Block, Cambridgeport, Mass" 5. A seated woman resting her arm on a side table. Back reads "Caldwell" and photographer's logo, "Silsbee, Case & Co. Photographic Artists, 299 1/2 Washington Street, Boston" 6 & 7. Mr and Mrs Henry Carey, both seated resting an arm on a side table. Taken at the same studio, the backs read " Heard & Moseley, 10 Tremont Row, Boston" 8. George Crosby, son of Josiah Crosby, stood holding a hat and resting his arm on pillars. Photographer's mark on the back reads " Heard & Moseley, 10 Tremont Row, Boston". 9. Jennie and Alice Crosby, daughters of Josiah Crosby. Two girls, one seated and one stood, both in identical dresses. No photographer's logo on the back. Dated 1860. 10. General Tom Thumb and wife wedding photo. Both stainding arm in arm in formal attire. 16. Daniel Swan 21. Lizzie Proctor Wellington in light-colored dress, standing next to a chair. 34. Mrs. Henry Tufts with in slight profile with a young girl. 35. Mr. Henry Tufts wearing a bowtie. 36. Mrs. Cafet (sic) Benjamin Tufts standing between a chair and fringed drapes. 37. Mary Eliza Russell daughter of George C. Russell 38.James Russell presented by Ellen W. Hodgdon 39. Mrs. Letitia Shepherd 40. Eliza Simmons niece of George Crome 45. Rev. Francis Horton. First Minister of the Orthodox Church, Arlington. 46. Sarah Hill. Died when a young lady (written on back of carte-de-visite) 48. Back of Carte-de-viste is written the name: Mr. Levi Ingols 1830. His carte-de-visite is connected to the name Levi Ingalls in the People - Subjects classification. Unsure if same person or not. 49-81. Unlabeled.
