LA SOCIÉTÉ D'ACCLIMATATION (The acclimatization society) is a series consisting of 10 prints, which appeared in the Charivari between August and October 1858.This print also appeared as an album containing prints sur blanc in-4° demi chagr. LA SOCIÉTÉ D'ACCLIMATATION was founded in 1854 by GEOFFROY-SAINT-HILAIRE. The aim of this evolutionary group was to establish botanical gardens as well as greenhouses within the city boundaries. During this period it became fashionable for the Parisian bourgeoisie to add a small conservatory to their house and to grow exotic plants.
