A letter from Edward Hitchcock in which he writes to his siblings. In the first part of the letter, addressed to his brothers (Henry Hitchcock and Charles Hitchcock) and dated July 12, Edward writes about his travels in London, the quality of the roads, the agriculture in Ireland, and the poverty he has seen in his travels. He adds more to the letter on July 14 after traveling to Belfast, writing more about the argiculture and poverty, and also describing a visit to a Presbyterian service. Following this letter, Edward writes to his sister Emilia Hitchcock about the sights he has seen, his weariness, and his reception by the scientific community in Europe. The envelope is addressed to "Deacon Henry Hitchcock Deerfield Massachusetts."
