Edward Hitchcock geological survey expense account, 1830 to 1832
Description:
An account of expenses by Edward Hitchcock incurred during a portion of his geological survey of Massachusetts from 1830 to 1832 and owed to him by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Expenses for types of items or a certain number of days are totaled. Expenses listed include supplies, postage, horse and carriage rentals, and personal expenses for Hitchcock and his assistant. Notes on payments made to him by the state are also included.
