Letter from William Amherst, younger brother of Jeffery Amherst, to Mrs. Jane Dalison Amherst, the first wife of Jeffery Amherst. In the letter, William discusses his excitement about his appointment by King George II to the position of Deputy Adjutant General in North America, with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. The letter was sent from St. James's Place and is addressed to Mrs. Amherst at Riverhead, near Sevenoaks, Kent, England.
