This photograph shows a log cabin in the woods, located at Springfield College's East Campus. There is a man sitting on top of the log cabin, whom appears to have a tool belt around his waist. The cabin is not finished as the front has a large opening visible. The log cabin was most likely used for instructors and children at Camp Massasoit, a summer camp that took place on East Campus, as well as other college sponsored camping activities. The picture is not dated but it can be assumed to have been taken between 1935 and 2000.

Notes:
Camp Massasoit is available to children during the summer months. It is considered a character building experience for children and allows them to stay active during the summer. The kids participate in rope climbing, canoeing, and a variety of activities that allow the kids to have hands on experience. They focus on four areas of respect at the camp, including respect for self, peers, counselors and the environment. Camp Massasoit started in 1935. Springfield College's East Campus is still used as it was originally intended, hosting students pursuing the outdoor recreation degree as well as “Freshman Camp,” “Outdoor Pursuits" leadership development, and other team-building experiences.
