Dr. William Walter Hastings graduated from Springfield College from the physical department in 1897 and eventually came back to teach at the school from 1901 till 1907. He was given an Honorary Degree in 1907. Over his long distinguished career he taught at many different institutions in addition to Springfield College, including the University of Nebraska, Normal School of Gymnastics in Boston, Normal School of Physical Education at Battle Creek Michigan, and Gorden College. He served as Pastor of the Federated Churches in New York and New Hampshire until his retirement at 71.
