The Marlin Club began at Springfield College in the fall of 1961. It started as an all-women’s club that invited female students of all skill levels to participate. Prior to this, there was the Synchronized Swimming Club. The Marlin Club focused on the idea that “synchronizing routines in the water and interpreting and creating dance movements reveal the potential of originality”. The climax of the year for the Marlin Club occurred in the spring, where the Aquatic Concert was presented to the entire student body and community. The Club continued as an all-women’s club up until the fall of 1969, when all deep water swimmers were invited to participate. The Marlin Club enjoyed its final year at Springfield College, performing its last show in the spring of 1978.
The tape has a loud hum and is dark and hard to make out. According to the digital technician who transferred this tape this is the best that can be done for this video. The technician said, ""The 1" EV was a nearly 60 minute tape of water sports (synchronized swimming?) shot indoors in very low light using a non-interlaced black & white camera. There are many stop/starts within this recording. At 1:54:21, there is a section of test recordings that have no control track and could just be considered junk material. At 1:56:58, this section settles down to more tests.";
