Phil has received 7 letters, his first in two weeks, although the news in them was depressing. Uncle George has died and Harry passed his examination. He thinks that this life will be hard on Harry at first, but that it will improve his physical condition in the long run. He doesn't know how Millard and Aunt Annie are going to get by without Harry. There has been a lot of activity in camp lately and he thinks that "Bill" (Kaiser Wilhelm II) will "soon get his fill."
