Phil has gone through another round of inoculations for typhoid fever, which he describes as very strictly regimented. The doctors inoculate about a thousand a day and so they become a little rough. The officials say that it costs the government about $25 per shot. He is still in quarantine and has not received his uniform. Airplanes are as common as automobiles on at the base and surprisingly there have been no accidents yet during his stay. He hasn't been able to work at his trade yet and has been kept busy drilling, which everyone must do when they start no matter what their occupation. Once he starts work, supposedly he will not have to drill anymore but he can't be sure of anything unless he hears it from an officer. He's tired of Texas and hopes that his squadron will be relocated somewhere else soon.
