Memorandum from Mark H. McCormack to Jules Rosenthal
Description:
McCormack writes Jules Rosenthal with reference to Rosenthal's memorandum of May 5th about Wimbledon and Japan. He explains that there is very little doubt in his mind as to the orchestration of the Wimbledon program in Japan and the entire Wimbledon licensing program. He indicates that the idea was his and that the initial deals were executed by himself in conjunction with Dentsu and with some help by Mochimaru. He recalls that when the program grew in size, they felt that they should take it away from Dentsu and do it themselves under Rosenthal's orchestration and administration, especially in light of Rosenthal's relationship with Renown. McCormack explains that their relationship with Renown has become less effective than Rosenthal judged it to be and indicates that this first became definitively noticeable to him during their November trip in 1982. He asks Rosenthal what he perceives to be the hard dollar benefits from the Japanese trips.
