Protector decorated with grape leaf motif. Only portion of black plastic case containing image remains; bears a grape leaf motif. Case lined with notice naming case manufacturer: Improved Union Cases. / S.Peck's Patent, / October 3, 1854, / S.Peck & Co., / Of New Haven., / ... The notice continues to describe the qualities of the case. Luther Holman Hale's studio was at 109 Washington St., Boston, between 1845 and 1863. Case dates daguerreotype to ca.1858.
