Letter from Joel M. Halpern to Nettie and Carl Halpern
Description:
Joel Halpern wrote this letter while visiting Paris in 1949. This letter describes a trip to the Louvre where he saw the Venus de Milo, the Nike of Samothrace (described as the Winged Victory) and the Da Vinci's Mona Lisa as well as a trip to the Folies-Bergère. The letter also includes some interesting discussions of the amount of money Halpern has with him and his plans. At one point, he explains that he has $270 and is planning on traveling to Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and Sweden on that money. He does say that if his parents are concerned that they can send an additional $100 to Sweden for when he gets there.
