No;
This lantern slide demonstrates the areas of the field that are covered by one of the fielders and the areas of the field that are not covered by the fielders. The areas of the field not covered by the fielders are the areas of the field that the batter should look to hit the ball to because these areas would be the areas of the field where they increase their chances of successfully getting on base. For example, the most noticeable gaps are between the shortstop and the third baseman and the first baseman and the second baseman, and if the batter hits the ball in these gaps, then the baseball will make it into the outfield and the batter will reach first base successfully. If the ball is hit in the zones of one of the infielders either on the ground or on a line drive towards the infielder, then the batter will most likely not reach first base successfully. Every zone is covered by the outfielders because they are the last line of resort and they have no help behind them. The image also explains the fielding zones covered by the pitcher, first baseman, third baseman, and the catcher, which occur in relation to bunting. If a bunt is placed and doesn't travel far away from home plate, the baseball would be the responsibility of the catcher. If the ball travels down the third base line the third baseman is responsible and if it travels down the first base line, the first baseman is generally responsible. If the first baseman is responsible, it is the pitcher's duty to cover first base for the first baseman. If the baseball is bunted straight forward but pretty far away from the catcher, then fielding the bunt would be the responsibility of the pitcher. It is important for these zones to be followed especially with bunting because if they aren't followed, then two people might go after the same bunt or no one might attempt to field a bunt. If no one attempts to field the bunt, then the bunter would be successful and would reach first base successfully.
Good condition;
This digital image is made from two separate digital scans; one scan of the lantern slide (reflective); one scan of the image (transparency); the two image were then combined in Photoshop to create the final image.
