Hubert van Blijenburgh that the college will be celebrating the students and alumni that are in the war and would like some letters that they can read to the faculty and students that are still at the college.

Willem Peter Hubert van Blijenburgh was a 2-time Olympic bronze medal winner in Fencing before he came to Springfield College. At Springfield College, graduating in 1914, he would earn his Master of Physical Education degree. Afterwards, he would become director of the naval gym in Den Helder (Netherlands) during the first world war. After the war, he would win his third Olympic bronze medal in fencing in 1920. Van Blijenburgh wrote several books about physical education and was the first Dutch person to obtain a PhD in this field. Later he was awarded as a Knight in the Legion of Honor (France) in 1922. He died in 1936.
